Job Summary

The Carpenters JAC is looking to continue its long tradition of training a qualified workforce that is prepared to ensure the most challenging construction projects can be completed safely and ahead of schedule. The Carpenters JAC has been designed to help create many skilled craftspeople for our evolving workforce. It is essential in helping others attain a successful career path into the construction industry.

Your role as an instructor can and will be an extremely influential one. You are the key instrument on which the environment in your classroom rises to meet the expectations of your students. With the support of your Training Director/Coordinator and staff you will work as a major part of a team in a fast paced and task-oriented training environment. You will work in our local training centers, mostly in Philadelphia, however travel is requirement of the job.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidates must be a current UBC Floorlayer (FL) Journeyperson in good standing.
  • Past Graduate of the Local Apprenticeship Program, recommended
  • Minimum of 10 years’ well-rounded UBC FL experience in the respective trade.
  • Foreman or superintendent experience, recommended.
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills are critical, as well as, the ability to connect with students and create an encouraging classroom environment.
  • Travel, evening, and weekend work will be required.
  • Familiarization with MS Office
  • Full COVID Vaccination
  • UBC Floorlayer specifics Qualification and Certifications are a plus.
  • Expert level knowledge required in, but not limited to: OSHA Site Safety, Carpet, Hardwood, Resilient Installation and Concrete Polishing

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Instruction of Apprentices and Journeypersons
  • Enforcement and adherence to all Fund rules, regulations & policy
  • Facilities maintenance
  • Cross train to aid team of Instructors
  • Positive motivation of all students
