APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION AND TESTING

Applications for apprenticeship will be accepted for the following trades: Carpenter, Mill/Cabinetmaker, Millwright, Resilient Floor Layer and Wharf & Dock Builder.

Applicants must apply in person on one of the following dates: January 16, 17, 18, Saturday January 20, January 23, 24, 25, Saturday, January 27, January 30, 31, February 1 and Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. only. The test day is Saturday, March 10, 2018. The test time will be given when you apply. The address is the Carpenters Training Facility; 10501 Decatur Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.

A non-refundable $35.00 administrative processing fee is payable with the application. Money orders only – payable to Carpenters JAC. Cash or personal checks will not be accepted. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent (except 2018 graduates). Photo identification is required when applying and when reporting for the qualifying test. A driver’s license or school ID. is recommended.

The test consists of high school level math and math related to the carpentry trades including: decimals, fractions, and geometry. You will have two hours to complete the test. Please bring two sharp #2 pencils on test day. Calculators are not permitted. All qualified applicants will remain eligible for a three-year period. Proof of high school equivalency is required after you have passed the qualifying test. Drug testing is a requirement for entry and continued participation in the apprentice program.
